Our Story

With beloved members of his family in need of care, our late President & CEO, Gregory D. Smith, set out to change the promise and potential of our later years. That mission began with the 2006 opening of the first Maplewood Senior Living location — a vibrant, loving community in Danbury, Connecticut, where Smith’s own grandmother and great aunt could live their best lives. In the decades since, this inspired merger of hospitality and healthcare has earned Maplewood a reputation as an industry leader and visionary.
