Over a decade ago, the doors to Maplewood at Strawberry Hill opened becoming the fifth community in the Maplewood portfolio. Formerly the Fitch Elementary School on Strawberry Hill Avenue in Norwalk, the property was transformed into a vibrant two-story community that offers assisted living, memory care and respite when needed.
Like all our senior living communities, Maplewood at Strawberry Hill has been thoughtfully designed with impeccably decorated spaces and beautifully manicured grounds. The community is located in a family-friendly neighborhood close to the Norwalk-Westport line.
Here, we empower residents to live more independently by providing discreet assistance tailored to meet their unique needs and goals. We begin with a wellness assessment completed by our care team, and then we develop a personalized plan that supports longevity and enhances quality of life. Our day-to-day offerings include enriching cultural and educational programming that caters to and inspires personal passions, an array of health and wellness offerings, and inspired nutritious, flavorful dining.
Maplewood at Strawberry Hill offers three programs for residents which includes Vistas™, Tides™, and Currents™. Vistas™ offers a personalized plan and the details of daily living are thoughtfully managed, making every activity and movement easier to enjoy. The community has two distinct, evidence-based memory care programs. Tides™ delivers person-centered support, including appropriate cueing and reminders. The details of living are thoughtfully managed so our residents can remain independent and experience the joys of life. The more structured Currents™ program is for residents with moderate to advanced-stage memory impairment. With our secure, comfortable environment accompanied by enriching programs, Currents™ residents thrive while they stay safe.
The choice of our three programs allows couples at different stages of aging to live in our community together while both receiving the individual care and support they need. This was the case with Dr. Sacco and his wife.
“My wife and I moved in here six years ago. She’d been wheelchair-bound for about 5 years and I cared for her but when she needed 24-hour care we made the move to Maplewood. I wanted us to live in a nurturing community where I could participate in her care but also have the freedom to continue to play golf with friends or play in my bridge club where I’ve been a member since 1988. Maplewood’s philosophy resonated with me. They believe that just because we are growing older and may need some support, we should not forego the lifestyle we have worked hard to build for ourselves. They take care of everything so that we can be free to explore new passions, meet new friends and enjoy life again. When my wife passed, I was perfectly content to stay in the same community. I’m President of the Resident Council, I run a Bible study, I have great friends, both staff and residents, and recently I got to visit my childhood home through virtual reality. Having the technology to do that at Maplewood is a life-changer.”
