Currents™ is a more structured program created for residents with moderate to advanced-stage memory impairment. Our secure comfortable environment with enriching programs allows our Currents™ residents to thrive and stay safe.
William spoke to us about how the Currents™ program helped him when his wife was diagnosed with dementia.
“Seven years ago, my wife Liz was diagnosed with dementia. I became her full-time caregiver and initially managed to run errands and leave her at home but as she progressed it became increasingly difficult. She was no longer safe on her own and lost the ability to do things for herself. Soon I was exhausted and overwhelmed. We had part-time help but that was met with an angry response and she became adept at forcing people to resign. When I discovered Maplewood, they sealed the deal. Everything was explained with empathy and understanding and created a plan for Liz’s move that would minimize her stress and anxiety. Liz is thriving in Currents. The staff are wonderful and skilled at caring for people with dementia. She has made many friends and joins them for programming and meals. It is a great comfort to know she’s safe and secure. I visit often but am no longer overwhelmed with caring for her 24/7.”
